Maintaining your Moduline Fence

Introduction

One factor that is not often considered when choosing a fence is the maintenance requirement. Moduline fences are specifically designed to be low maintenance.  Nobody wants to spend their precious time doing maintenance!!  This article talks through those requirements.

We sometimes have older customers making the statement that “this COLORSTEEL® fence will see me out without having to be repainted”. Of course it is true that there is no such thing as no maintenance, but COLORSTEEL® fences offer a very long life with minimal care, so we're close! Our first fences from 40 years ago are standing straight even though the paint has faded. The new MAXAM™ paint bonded steel from NZ Steel is superior to the paint finish used back then.

This article talks through the easy and straightforward process for maintaining your Moduline fence, to keep it looking great through its lifetime.

Cleaning

An obvious way to ensure a long life is to wash the fence down to remove any grime or deposits.  This also applies to your house and your car. The fence has the added advantage that is regularly washed in the rain, unlike parts of your house or garage door which has sheltered areas. It may be a simple hosing or washed down with a brush.  Even better is a wash with soapy water.  We recommend you do this annually.

Buildup of Salts or Grime

If you live in harsher zones (think coastal - see our warranty document on the website for details and a definition), you are more likely to experience salt or grime build up. If you notice salt build up on your fence (or your house, windows or car for that matter), it is advisable to wash that off before too long, in order to prolong the life of the paint.

good news! - you shouldn't need a hazmat suit or harsh chemicals

Damage

This is not strictly maintenance, but over the lifetime of a fence, there are times when damage occurs by impact from a car, a cricket ball, or a ride on mower, or a tree crashing onto the fence. We have seen damage caused by quad bikes losing control.

If this happens with your Moduline fence, we are able to provide replacement parts which can easily be fitted, and if you need, experienced installers across New Zealand who can fit the replacement parts for you.

Summary

As you can see from the above, maintaining your Moduline fence is actually really easy and  not onerous.

We design the fences to be low maintenance.  Nobody wants to spend their lives doing maintenance!

Because we use MAXAM™ COLORSTEEL® from NZ Steel, our products are designed to cope with the adverse weather conditions we have thrown at us in New Zealand.

This means we can offer a better warranty than our competitors, who use imported product that is not designed for local NZ conditions, and we can maintain supply of parts should you need them.
